InfoScreen Quorum® features distributed architecture for reliability and robustness with the potential for easy scalability to a larger enterprise system. Under this configuration, the three components (Quorum Application Server, Database Server and Quorum Client) reside on separate machines and work independently thus utilizing infrastructure to its full potential.
For maximum performance of the Server side components (Quorum Application Server and Database Server) it is essential to have fast and reliable network connectivity between those two machines (Gbit or Fiber Optics).
Even though the benefits from having a distributed architecture based system, as discussed earlier are too many, InfoScreen Quorum® can always be configured with the Quorum Application Server and the Database Server residing on the same machine (Figure 3). Such a configuration might be the designated solution in entry level installations or installations with few users.
System Accessibility and Data Security
Providing access to your valuable data, from wherever you are, over a secured environment has been of prime consideration in the design and development of InfoScreen Quorum®.
Quorum Users are controlled through a highly analytical Access Rights control system that defines the extent of their contact with your data. Features like multiple levels of rights, confidentiality clearance, Audit Trail (History of changes), with undo and restore capabilities, down to the User level, are standard throughout Quorum. And, in collaboration with your intranet infrastructure and IT security it safeguards your data.
InfoScreen Quorum® comes ready with features that allow, if desired, the implementation of system accessibility over the internet (Figure 4). Whether you wish to provide access to other corporate offices, which might be distributed across the entire world or to traveling officers and employees, you can easily do so at any point of time. All that is required is for your Offices or staff to have internet access (Dial-up, WiFi or Broadband) and a one-time setup on your infrastructure side to simply designate the TCP port of your choice that will permit access through your corporate Firewall to the required data location. Quorum creates a highly encrypted (256bit) channel and compresses data for the ultimate protection of your data over the internet. What does that mean? Simply, that even in the extreme case of having your data maliciously intercepted by anyone, while being exchanged with your Server, there is no way of decrypting them to extract any meaningful results. The decision, of course, on whether to implement this feature rests entirely on your part.
InfoScreen Secured Quorum Hosting Service (Alternative solution)
In situations where adequate infrastructure is not readily available or even in transitional situations you may opt to use our Secured Quorum Hosting Service (Figure 5). A headache-free arrangement that provides hosting of the Quorum Application Server and Database Server components on our own optimized and dedicated infrastructure.
Highly secured from all points of view, this arrangement takes care of issues like Hardware and Software upgrading, system and data back-up, power redundancy and up-time system availability. Designed and implemented in order to reduce the Cost of Implementation of InfoScreen Quorum® at Customer’s premises, it proves to be an excellent alternative solution for use by relatively small sized businesses (10-50 users).
This alternative differs from our standard implementation only to the extent of the place where the Quorum Application Server and Database Server components are located and comes with the same advanced features of remote accessibility as discussed earlier.
A reliable Internet connection (DSL or Broadband) is required for taking advantage of this scenario.
